Nothing special about this Dadurday. Just watching my wonderful children enjoy themselves.
Welcome Dads of the Internet!
Mommy bloggers have ruled the parental sharing space of the Internet for some time. Now, it’s time for Dads to take a swing at sharing our stories, tips, hints, and activities that make being a Dad so much fun. Dadurday is just the place for this to happen.
Let’s face it, most Dads are still working all week to support their families. Only the hipster Dads stay home while the Mom works. That means that Monday through Friday can get filled up with things like meetings, projects, work travel, etc. Saturday should be our day! The day when we get to play Dad. We take the kids to whatever sport game is in season. We head to the pool or go see a cool action movie with our sons or a princess movie with our daughters. Saturday is DADURDAY, a day of the week that’s ours to spend with the kids.
I have great hopes for this site. Especially for the Dads in the Columbus, GA vicinity.
Dadurday and 4sqDay!
That’s part of what being a Dad is all about. It’s about making sacrifices so that we raise our children the best we can. Those of us raising boys want to demonstrate what it means to be a good Dad. We need to set a good example. If we’re busy raising little girls, then we want to show our daughters how a good man behaves so that they don’t grow dating boys that’ll make our make our hair premature grey!
When I was a younger man, I wanted to write a book and I wanted the title to be “How to do everything right!”. I, like most young men in their twenties, thought I knew the correct way to do everything. That was before I any kids… My kids teach me so much every day. These days my book would have to be titled “How to do things the best you can.” The best thing I’ve been taught is that it’s great to be a Dad!
This past Dadurday, I met up with some other Columbus Dad’s at Mellow Mushroom Pizza to enjoy #4sqDay. For those of you in the know, #4sqDay is the annual celebration on 4/16 that the location based social network Foursquare holds throughout the world. We ate good pizza, let the kids visit, and enjoy some good company. After lunch, we did a little shopping at Columbus Crossing. It was a relaxing Saturday. The kind this old Soldier needs from time to time.
Can’t wait ‘till next Dadurday!
